Description
IBSS is seeking an experienced technical support subject matter expert to support the National Weather Service, Surface and Upper Air Division (NWS SUAD). The position requires the preparation and maintenance of detailed project schedules for performing tasks in an integrated workflow environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering
  • Conduct engineering analyses, investigations, and assessments of upper air observing systems.
  • Provide maintenance engineering support and assistance.
  • Help develop, generate, update, and revise maintenance documentation, including maintenance notes, modification notes, and site technical manuals, technical information packages (TIP), technical notes, and other related publications.

Logistics
  • Manage inventories, shipping, payment and arrival/receiving.
  • Communicate with vendors and users.

Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a focus in electrical, mechanical or other related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering management experience in both functional and program roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of weather equipment, software development for monitoring and tracking equipment performance, field maintenance including fault isolation and repair of electronic equipment at the modular replacement level, and the installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair of electronic equipment.

Desired Skills:

Project Management
  • Develops and maintains detailed project schedules for performing tasks in an integrated workflow environment.
  • Communicates task status and schedule changes promptly with the federal task manager and produces weekly status reports highlighting task completion schedules, work schedule variations (if any), other milestones and work product deliveries.

Engineering and Technical Support
  • Supports the management of NWS national sounding systems field program, involving a variety of complex radar adjuncts, upper air systems, and equipment including radar information display systems, automatic radiosonde system, and hydrogen generators.
  • Assists the maintenance program engineer (MPE) in performing documentation tasks, systems maintenance activities, integrated logistics support, failure analysis, and engineering reporting.
  • Provides technical writing and web page maintenance to meet the goals and objectives of the Division.
  • Conducts engineering analyses, investigations, and assessments of airborne and upper air systems.
  • Develops, generates, updates, and revises maintenance documentation, including maintenance notes, modification notes, and site technical manuals, technical information packages (TIP), technical notes, and other related publications.
