Description

We’re looking for an experienced Director of Sales and Marketing who will have direct oversight of the sales operation of the hotel. You will be responsible for cultivating and activating the strategic sales strategies, tactics, and action plans required to achieve your hotel's financial, leadership, and market share goals.

This individual will reside in the New York, NY area. This is a primarily on-site position that will require occasional travel. This is an on-site, exempt position that reports to the General Manager. The salary range for this position is $125,000-$150,000.

The Property

The Radio Hotel is a 221-room hotel, mixed-use high rise, located at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights neighborhood in Northern Manhattan. The property features flexible meeting space and the Jalao Restaurant.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the sales team by example in exceeding our ambitious client acquisition, revenue, and market share goals.
  • Cultivate and activate the key sales strategies, tactics, and action plans required to achieve your hotel's financial targets.
  • Develop and implement successful Group and Business Travel sales solicitation activities to secure new and repeat business from target market segments.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Revenue Management and General Manager to create budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
  • Lead, motivate, and train/develop your sales team.
  • Support and inform the operations team in the execution of sales-related events.
  • Clearly communicate the direction and purpose of all initiatives to all shareholders in the hotel operation.
  • Achieve and maintain superior balanced scorecard results (revenue, STR, GOP, guest experience, colleague engagement, etc.).
  • Inspire and motivate your leaders and colleagues to foster a guest-focused and results-oriented environment.
  • Deliver best-in-class guest service and satisfaction by executing against the Modus Ethos.
  • Actively seek out critical information on market trends, segment behavior, and other data.
  • Actively seek out local hotel community and tourism industry partners.
  • Create and promote learning opportunities and development plans for direct reports.
  • Champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with shared services partners (marketing, sales and revenue management, people & culture).

Who You Are

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales positions in the hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrate a track record of production in both Business Travel and Group Sales.
  • Have knowledge and experience in Convention Sales Market.
  • Have a track record of achieving and maintaining superior sales and revenue results.
  • Demonstrate thorough experience with professional selling skills.
  • Able to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting traces, and profiling accounts.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry.
  • A passion for hospitality will be apparent from speaking with you.
