Role Overview:
As the Grant & Program Writer, you will play a critical role in securing funding and promoting The Movement Street’s community impact through high-quality, persuasive writing. Reporting to the Development Coordinator, CEO, and Communications Department, you will be responsible for crafting grant proposals, community program applications, and award entries, using TMS’s unique voice and storytelling approach. Your work will be vital in conveying our mission, impact, and values across various written formats to support our initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant & Program Application Writing:
- Develop compelling, persuasive, and mission-aligned grant proposals for funding opportunities.
- Craft story-driven responses for community program applications and award programs, showcasing TMS’s impact.
Language Development and Editing: Revise and edit existing TMS content to maintain a clear, cohesive voice across all written materials. Create and refine organizational language for consistency, professionalism, and alignment with TMS’s mission and goals.
Research and Data Integration: Conduct research to gather data and supporting information for application responses. Work with the data analysis team to incorporate relevant data points that strengthen application narratives.
Project Coordination and Scheduling: Develop and manage a content schedule for grant and program applications, ensuring timely submission of materials. Coordinate with other departments to gather input and insights needed for grant and program content.
Mission and Values Integration: Use writing to communicate TMS’s mission, vision, and values, ensuring all applications effectively convey our purpose and goals. Create content that highlights the unique impact of TMS on the communities we serve.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with team members, including the CEO and Development Director, to ensure alignment with strategic goals and messaging. Engage with different departments to understand program objectives and gather information for application narratives.
Commitment and Meetings: This role requires approximately 2 hours per week, including attendance at monthly staff meetings and bi-monthly check-in meetings with leadership as necessary.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in grant writing, creative writing, or nonprofit communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a history of producing persuasive content.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and content management tools.
- Familiarity with the grant application process and donor engagement is a plus.
Equipment: The organization will provide any necessary writing tools or resources.
