Your Role:

The Director, Sourcing, Marketing & Sales, NA & Innovative Medicines role in Healthcare is at the forefront of driving EMD Serono’s purpose to create, improve and prolong lives, as one for patients, with leaders across the Medical and Commercial Healthcare business as well as through strategic relationships with our suppliers. Who You Are:
You lead a team of Category Manager for specific Business stakeholders including the development of sourcing strategies for their respective scope of activities in close collaboration with internal business stakeholders. This role is expected to co-develop sourcing strategies for multi-year, multi-geography teams across regions. Duties will include development and execution of Sourcing Strategies in alignment with key stakeholder business priorities, as well as RFx development, demand management, competitive bid analysis, contract development, negotiation planning, and strategic supplier management.

As the leader of this team, you will interface closely with Business Partners to understand their business priorities and needs, and in turn, define specific initiatives to support the business. This role is also expected to support the optimization of sourcing processes, while enhancing overall User Experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategy execution by motivating teams, setting objectives, and delegating tasks.
  • Collaborate with the EMD Serono President and key stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with strategic partners to enhance competitive advantage and access innovation.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives that deliver significant business growth and value.
  • Engage with strategic suppliers and scout for new partnerships.
  • Identify and mitigate internal and external risks proactively.
  • Optimize buying power through collaboration with global category Procurement colleagues.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a strong development culture and succession planning.
  • Promote continuous learning and skill-sharing across teams.
  • Build resilience and maintain team energy and well-being.
  • Leverage the Procurement network for best practices and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Global and US Business Franchises across various functions.

Location: Boston, MA Preferred, Remote possible with expected business travel to Boston, MA 1x month

Travel: <20%; International and Domestic

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of procurement experience, or MA/MS with 6+ years, or MBA/PhD with 5+ years.
  • Proven experience in negotiating complex supplier agreements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulated environments and risk management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and e-Sourcing tools.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust and respect.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in the Pharma industry or similar sectors.
  • 3+ years of team leadership in a global context.
  • Track record of delivering multi-year strategies for competitive advantage.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills and commitment to quality results.
  • Experience in implementing change initiatives and managing large sourcing projects.

Pay Range for this Position: $171,400 - $257,200

Our ranges are derived from several sources, and largely reliant on relevant industry market data. Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses.
