Freedom From Religion Foundation
seeks a creative and motivated Summer Marketing Intern to assist with content creation, campaign execution, and strategic communications to promote FFRF’s mission and engage its growing membership. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, social media strategy, and public relations, allowing the intern to contribute to high-impact campaigns while developing professional skills in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
Students will experience most aspects of our marketing and communications department and work closely with the marketing and PR director. This internship is a paid position.

Key Responsibilities Content Creation: Assist in creating compelling content for FFRF’s digital platforms, including social media posts, blogs, email campaigns, and promotional materials. Media Relations: Identify key journalists and outlets with which FFRF can nurture relationships for media coverage, including SME interviews. Assist in pitch development and distribution. Social Media Management: Help schedule and manage posts across FFRF’s social media channels, analyze engagement metrics, and suggest strategies to increase reach and visibility. Identify and engage with key influencers related to state-church separation and nontheism. Campaign Support: Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns focused on voter awareness, combating Christian nationalism, and promoting membership growth. SEO & Web Support: Research keywords and assist in optimizing blog posts and website content to improve visibility and search rankings. Event Marketing: Support marketing efforts for FFRF’s events, such as conventions, webinars, and public talks. Research & Reporting: Conduct research on audience trends, competitor campaigns, and nonprofit marketing best practices. Present findings to the marketing team. Administrative Tasks: Assist with day-to-day marketing operations, including maintaining content calendars, organizing media assets, and tracking project timelines.
Qualifications Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a bachelor’s program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences. Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube). Basic understanding of digital marketing, including SEO, email marketing, and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mailchimp, etc.). Passion for FFRF’s mission of promoting the separation of church and state and nontheism. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects. Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
