The Associate Designer will collaborate with the Design Director to bring the Brand’s vision to life through innovative, trend-forward, and brand-appropriate trims, fabrics, and designs. This role supports the Director in developing product lines from concept to pre-production handoff, with a strong focus on fit, fabric, and comfort. The ideal candidate should be able to identify emerging fashion trends and business opportunities, ensuring designs align with the right price points to maintain a profitable margin.
Primary Responsibilities:- Partner with the Designer to develop seasonal product lines, including market research, mood board creation, design, merchandising, and fit.
- Conduct market research and shopping to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, and inspiration.
- Design, sketch, and create mac packs for each style, ensuring all technical information is detailed for handoff to Product Development.
- Create and maintain seasonal and replenishment merchandising pages.
- Prepare and update competitor analysis reports.
- Develop and update category boards seasonally.
- Design SMU (Special Make-Up) styles as needed.
- Collaborate with the Designer and Graphic Artist to develop embroideries when necessary.
- Attend all first proto and production fittings.
- Check in, tag, and manage all seasonal samples.
- Adhere to the time and action calendar to meet project deadlines.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to identify key fashion trends and align them with the brand’s identity and target consumer.
- Expert design and conceptual skills with a strong sense of style and color.
- Ability to establish a creative vision, inspire new ideas, and build a cohesive product line.
- Deep understanding of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, sewing techniques, graphics, and trims.
- Fast, efficient, and adaptable—able to thrive in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and drive innovation.
- Experience working with PLM, 3D Design, and Browzwear.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of design experience.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (for sketching) and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of garment construction, textiles, price points, and merchandising needs.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Reports to Director of Design.
- No direct reports.
