Assistant, Library and Archives (Part Time, Temporary Term)

Starting Hourly Range: $19.56 - $22.00 per hour

Are you passionate about libraries, archives, and contributing to the mission of a world-class museum? The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Assistant to support the Library and Archives department. This position is funded for six years and will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and smooth operation of the department.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Budget and Finance: Manage payment processing for invoices and purchasing cards, track departmental expenses, and ensure accurate budget reporting.
  • Program Support: Coordinate logistical needs for departmental programs, including room reservations, AV setup, and supply ordering.
  • Data Management: Maintain organized financial records and assist with annual library system updates.
  • Communication: Serve as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries, supporting seamless coordination with museum staff and vendors.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to departmental initiatives and cross-functional museum projects as needed.
What We're Looking for:
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years of administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
