ROLE: The Technical Writer writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to aviation mechanics. Acquires subject knowledge by referring to technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering illustrations or models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Research, writes, edits and proofreads aviation technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications
- Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
- Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations
- Retrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information
- Creates or revises hardware or software product documentation, which includes installation, operation and maintenance instructions and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notes
- Performs work under general supervision
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in science or relevant field, from an accredited college or university preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology or mathematics preferred
- 2+ years of experience in directly related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES
- Language/Communication: English: ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Excellent communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Suite Outlook, Word and especially Excel. Proficient computer knowledge of Altium and Solidworks.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
- Reasoning Abilities: Ability to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in writing or oral. Ability to problem solve and provide solutions
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must work well in a team environment and independently.
