Job Description - Senior Technical Writer

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides support to read and analyze highly technical materials and to create presentations of that information. This may be specifications, drawings, user manuals, presentations, reports, or training documents.
  • Authors complex software documentation, including user manuals, release notes, installation guides, design guides, training materials, technical guidance, and other technical documentation.
  • Partner with other teams, such as development, customer engineering, marketing, and technical support groups to understand and respond to customer documentation needs.
  • Create new documentation and evaluate, edit, improve, and correct legacy documentation.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or similar areas is required. Degrees in information systems, business systems, management information systems, IT Management, Engineering, Math, and Science are acceptable substitute degrees.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience and job knowledge required.
  • Advanced ability to design and develop documentation using Microsoft suite of tools: Office, Project, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Advanced ability to design and develop documentation using Adobe suite of tools: Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Excellent writing, editing, drafting and journaling skills, to include the ability to design and create documents and artifacts from notional ideas.
  • Conceptual and practical understanding of all project management knowledge areas preferred.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and handle tight deadlines.
  • Highly responsive to requested needs.
  • Ability to work with confidential and proprietary information using utmost discretion.

Additional information:
  • Professional certification is desirable.
  • Candidate must be able to pass security background check.
