Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and experienced senior director of Communications to lead and manage the organization's communications strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering the Chamber's messages to key stakeholders, including members, policymakers, media, and the public. The senior director will oversee a team of communication professionals and work closely with senior leadership to advance the Chamber's mission and objectives.

The salary range for this position is $118,690.00 to $145,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant's qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.

- Strategic Communications: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to drive the Chamber's goals and priorities.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to effectively promote the Chamber's initiatives and viewpoints. Lead the response to media inquiries in coordination with other team members and stakeholders and serve as a Chamber spokesperson.
- Content Creation: Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, op-eds, speeches, and social media posts, ensuring consistency and alignment with the organization's brand and messaging.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of communication professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective communication efforts across all platforms. Drive results that include inputs from other Chamber departments to align against a common goal.
- Digital Strategy: Provide strategic direction to inform the Chamber's digital communications strategy, including website content, social media presence, and email marketing campaigns.
- Measurement and Reporting: Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Capitol Hill, administration, trade association, political campaign, and/or public affairs consultancy experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record of successful media relations and integrated communication strategies that drive results in support of policy and advocacy priorities.
- Proficiency in digital communications, social media strategies, and influencer outreach.
- Proficiency in leveraging members and allies in support of policy and advocacy outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
