Explore the Future: Remote Full-Time DHH/TVI Opportunity in Philadelphia Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our dedicated team. The TVI will provide specialized educational services to students with visual impairments across various age groups and educational settings. This position requires expertise in adapting curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each student. Key Responsibilities: Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student's specific visual impairment and educational needs. Direct Instruction: Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, adaptive skills, and specialized instruction such as Braille literacy and pre-braille skills. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including parents, therapists, and educational specialists to ensure coordinated services and progress monitoring. Assessment: Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary to facilitate optimal learning outcomes. Consultation and Training: Consult with general education teachers and staff to support the inclusion and accommodation of visually impaired students in the general education environment. Provide training as needed on strategies for supporting students with visual impairments. Materials Adaptation: Adapt and create instructional materials and resources to meet the needs of visually impaired students, including accessible formats and technology integration. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred. Certification in Visual Impairment Education or willingness to obtain. Experience working with students who have visual impairments and familiarity with various eye conditions and their educational implications. Knowledge of Braille and other alternative communication methods. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Additional Information: This position may involve travel between school sites or home visits, depending on student needs and placement.
