The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), the IT Project Management Office (IT PMO), and Business Analysis (BA) services - The Disaster Recovery (DR) initiative aims to evaluate and improve the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power's ability to recover from disruptive events by identifying gaps, establishing policies, and enhancing response strategies. There is a need to refine processes, templates, and strategies, particularly in BA, which currently lacks established governance frameworks. Existing IT PMO/BA structures and resources will be assessed, optimized, or replaced, with new Organizational Process Assets (OPAs) created and documented as needed. IT PMO is implementing a Project Management Information System (PMIS) as part of its governance framework.

The Sr. UI/UX Consultant is responsible for leading the design of user interfaces and experiences for products, ensuring they are intuitive, visually appealing, and aligned with the company's brand identity. This role involves conducting user research, gathering feedback, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create designs that meet user needs while maintaining a consistent brand presence across various digital platforms.

Design user interfaces that are intuitive, user-friendly, and aesthetically aligned with the organization's brand. Create logos and other branding assets that reflect the brand's identity and guidelines. Ensure the use of brand identity across all marketing materials, including digital platforms, print, and presentations. Develop and document design patterns to be incorporated into the design system. Present creative vision and finalized designs to leadership, stakeholders, and peers for feedback and approval. User Research & Testing: Conduct user research and user testing to gather insights on user behavior and preferences. Use research findings to inform design decisions and improve user experience. Collaborate with stakeholders to test designs with real users, iterating based on feedback and testing results. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, researchers, and producers, to ensure designs are implemented effectively. Communicate design decisions and user flows clearly to stakeholders, engineers, and other team members. Engage in brainstorming sessions to simplify complex requirements into elegant design solutions. Documentation & Implementation: Produce design documentation for developers, ensuring designs are accurately implemented. Work with engineering teams to ensure final products match design specifications, including page flows, animations, and interactive elements. Continuously expand and evolve the design system, keeping it relevant and effective for all digital platforms. What You'll Bring: 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work in both web and mobile design. Bachelor's degree in Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred. Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision). Strong understanding of design systems, brand consistency, and user-centered design principles. Experience with user research methods, including usability testing, interviews, and surveys. Knowledge of responsive design and how to design for different platforms. Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and effectively present design concepts and solutions. Strong creative vision with an ability to think critically about user needs, business goals, and design constraints. Ability to simplify complex user requirements into elegant, practical design solutions.
