In addition, it raises additional funds with foundations, corporate partners, individuals, and our community to reach our goal. The Rare Impact Fund is a non-profit organization, fiscally sponsored by the Hopewell Fund, with its day-to-day staff sitting within Rare Beauty. POSITION SUMMARY The Rare Impact Fund is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Communications, who will report to the Chief Impact Officer at Rare Beauty / President of Rare Impact Fund. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of creating and executing communications strategies and messaging for non-profits, talent, and / or brands. Candidates will ideally have experience working with top-tier talent, understanding the risks and opportunities involved in leveraging their platforms and organizations. Mental health expertise and experience are preferred. You will be an internal and external champion across Rare Beauty’s Rare Impact initiatives, with an emphasis on the Rare Impact Fund.

This role sits within the Social Impact team at Rare Beauty, leveraging key brand assets, but is primarily focused on supporting the Rare Impact Fund. RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Communications Initiatives: Build communications strategies that position the Rare Impact Fund to donors, community, the broader business community, and as a top tier funder in the youth mental health space Create, manage, and maintain all Rare Impact Fund written materials including, but not limited to the Rare Impact Fund website (rareimpactfund.org), key messaging documents (internal and external), PPT decks, & fundraising collateral, working as needed in partnership with Rare Beauty’s Creative department Create communications materials for events, fundraising / marketing campaigns, and donors Build, lead, and maintain donor and prospective donor communications via the Rare Impact Fund’s email distribution list, donor thank you letters, and other communications as needed. Review and facilitate approvals, including Founder’s team, for all Rare Impact Fund partnership launches and announcements for the Rare Impact Fund Draft talking points, remarks, and other prep materials for Founder and President related to the Rare Impact Fund - provide on-site event staffing as needed As needed, guide Rare Beauty external brand positioning on key social issues Content Strategy: Work in partnership with the Rare Impact Fund’s philanthropic advisors, the Director of Philanthropic Partners, and the President of the Rare Impact Fund on identifying and communicating the Fund’s impact metrics and storytelling, providing critical messaging to key donor partners as well as Rare Beauty’s communication channels – the annual Social Impact Report, social media platforms, influencer and community events and materials Engage with and guide all Rare Impact Fund grantee partner communications Oversee and work closely with Rare Beauty’s Social team and the broader Social Impact team on Rare Impact Fund messaging and Rare Impact Fund product launches on relevant social content Media Relations: Work in partnership with Rare Beauty’s North America and Global PR Directors on pitches, awards, press releases, and prep materials related to the Rare Impact Fund and associated campaigns and events. Proactively seek and pitch strategic opportunities to elevate the profile of the Rare Impact Fund in interviews and / or speaking engagements Build and maintain relationships with journalists to help shape how philanthropists and strategic business outlets understand the growth, need, and impact of the Rare Impact Fund Evaluate and support requests for interviews, events, and partnerships related to Rare Impact and Founder positioning as it relates to thought-leadership REQUIREMENTS 8+ years of strategic communications experience in the non-profit, philanthropy, fundraising, social impact, and/or corporate social responsibility or policy space; background in mental health is a plus Experience working with and representing high level talent and executives to provide counsel, guidance, and direction on thought-leadership and brand positioning Quick to understand and guide appropriate voice and brand of the Rare Impact Fund, Rare Beauty, and our Founder Able to make decisions and think critically to respond and / or proactively engage in issues as they arise Ability to be flexible, creative, and accountable Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven experience drafting and editing communications materials, reports, talking points, articles, and other materials Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally both internally and with external partners and stakeholders Ability to develop and move projects forward with independence, autonomy, and good judgement Existing relationships with relevant news outlets, journalists, and events Ability to work in a fast-pace, high-stakes environment and pivot quickly as needed Passion for making a positive impact for our people and in our communities PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
