Sway is a California-based biomaterials startup harnessing the power of seaweed to create home-compostable replacements for plastics. We are currently focused on scaling seaweed-based polybags for the fashion industry. Sway's technology drops into traditional plastic infrastructure, while simultaneously working to replenish ocean health, promote regenerative materials, and ultimately create a more inclusive environmental movement. THE ROLE
We are excited to welcome a part-time Community & Content Coordinator to the Sway team! This role will focus on ensuring that Sway engages thoughtfully with our growing community, blending organizational and creative skills to effectively support communications across a variety of audiences and mediums. Daily: • Manage team email inbox, ensuring timely and thoughtful responses to inbound inquiries. Coordinate with the team to resolve issues and forward requests as appropriate.• Proactively engage with social media inbox, comments, tags, and peer accounts to foster community. Weekly - Biweekly: • Contribute to Sway’s social media, newsletter, and other developing platforms with writing, graphic design, and execution.• Support Sway’s cross-platform strategy development through trend monitoring, content ideation, and vision boarding.• Capture photo and video (iPhone okay) imagery as needed, building out a library of high-quality, brand-aligned visuals that can be used across Sway marketing. Note: it’s essential that this hire is based in the Bay Area and able to work in-person from Sway Labs to capture content on a whim! Special Projects: • Support the development of organizational talking points by analyzing trending questions, executing industry research, and collaborating with teammates.• Increase team organization and efficiency by developing scalable processes, automations, and templates for internal and external communications.• Conduct research, deep dives, and competitor analyses to identify trends and opportunities across next-generation materials and compostable packaging industries. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years of experience in social media, content creation, and/or community management.• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.• Flawless writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice for different audiences.• Strong graphic design experience, ideally with a portfolio to showcase past work.• Proficient in Canva (or similar design tools), Mailchimp (or similar email marketing tools), and social media management platforms.• Proficient in photo/video content creation (iPhone okay) in various contexts, ideally with experience in product photoshoots.• Comfortable narrating and appearing in social media content.• Passion for ocean health, regenerative materials, and climate action.• Based in the Bay Area and able to work from Sway Labs (San Leandro) as needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficiency across Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).• Experience in product photography and styling for social content.• Strong understanding of social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices.• Experience with B2B content marketing, particularly in sustainability or biomaterials.
