HDR seeks an experienced and driven Marketing Manager to lead, coordinate, manage, and facilitate all aspects of our marketing pursuit and capture planning, and proposal development activities in collaboration with client managers, program managers, and other dynamic team members to respond to internal and external activities that enhance HDR's competitive position resulting in the capture of new contracts for our Federal Program.
In the role of Federal Marketing Services Manager, we'll count on you to:
- Retain, develop, and supervise proposal and marketing employees, as assigned.
- Manage workload demands of proposal managers and marketing staff.
- Train and mentor employees on business development and marketing best practices.
- Lead pursuit teams in creating and implementing effective win strategies (capture planning).
- Ensure the go/no-go decision process is applied in accordance with HDR's Matrix of Authority.
- Develop and manage proposal schedules and confirm compliance.
- Lead quality reviews of proposal and interview materials.
- Prepare responses to government RFPs, RFQs, and TORNS for A/E/C services including SF330s.
- Engage the appropriate marketing and technical services resources in pursuit teams.
- Manage the proposal process from start to finish; apply marketing best practices to improve the quality and efficiency of response.
- Oversee and develop strategy, storyboarding, and message development for marketing information, presentations, emerging technical areas, client briefings, and external and internal communications in support of practice.
- Facilitate pursuit teams to develop persuasive proposals and interview materials.
- Coach interview teams to be effective at delivering key messages during interview presentations.
- Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and to measure overall competitiveness.
- Collaborate with Client Development Leads and Client Services Leads to develop and implement client plans, including long-term strategies to capture market share, to support the area and practice leadership.
- Support the development of annual and long-term strategic plans within established company direction and goals, including creating growth initiatives and prioritizing strategic investments.
- Implement key growth initiatives and investments as defined in annual and long-term strategic plans.
- Manage client relationship management and financial systems to inform reporting metrics and dashboards.
- Work with the proposal team to deconstruct proposal contents and capture the material in the firm's database upon submission.
- Track and communicate client/industry trends in types of work, funding, priorities, and future direction. Provide and oversee secondary research related to competition and contract.
- Develop business relationships with teaming partners.
- Lead participation activities for industry conferences and awards and provide strategy and oversee event budgets.
- Plan and fulfill conference sponsorship benefits, as needed.
- Implement strategies to elevate HDR's brand and technical talent with industry associations.
- Actively participate in professional associations to elevate HDR's brand in target markets.
- Create marketing collateral to support business development efforts.
- Direct content marketing campaigns and engaging digital content to strengthen our brand, increase our visibility, and showcase our thought leaders.
- Identify candidates to fill management, technical, business development and marketing positions.
- Manage the development of engaging internal communications content (announcements, presentations, videos, webinars).
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business communications, journalism, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of the Federal A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services.
- Experience preparing responses to government RFPs and RFQs for A/E/C services and familiarity with industry specific forms including SF330s.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
- Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign
- Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person
- Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry
- Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
