Position summary:

The Proposal/Grant Writer is responsible for researching, drafting, and submitting proposals that successfully bring Solution Tree contracted work which supports the company’s vision of transforming education worldwide to ensure learning for all. The candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail. The role requires creating and maintaining timelines and action steps to complete and submit proposals within established guidelines. The best candidate will have previous experience and success in proposal writing, particularly in the K–12 education arena.

Summary of essential job functions and duties:

  • Research and identify ideal funding opportunities that Solution Tree can apply for, specifically for federal or state RFPs
  • Ability to quickly learn Solution Tree products and services
  • Excellent proposal writing skills; including editing and revision skills
  • Understanding of the “request for proposal” process
  • Identify and secure additional funding sources and opportunities (e.g., partnerships with foundations, grants)
  • Understanding of the development process with foundations
  • Clear communication with both internal and external customers
  • Collaboration with other department personnel as necessary
  • Creation and maintenance of action steps, status reports, and timelines
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of issues that arise with respect to deliverables and deadlines
  • Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and common language/descriptions used
  • Maintain data on all submissions and partnership requests (successful or otherwise) to provide internal reports, as necessary

Ideal Experience/Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Solid working knowledge of word processing software
  • Excellent organizational skills, as well as a strong attention to detail
  • Proven track record of winning RFPs
  • Demonstrated ability to meet revenue targets

Abilities required:

Light lifting may be required on occasion.

Travel:

Some travel required to quarterly department meetings, annual employee retreat, and occasional events/meetings.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position, may be virtual, with occasional travel required. Days and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
