Job Summary:

This position is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for developing and executing innovative creative strategies that drive brand engagement, customer acquisition, and sales across all channels. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of retail dynamics and content marketing principles, coupled with exceptional creative vision and leadership skills. This role will lead the in-house and freelance creative teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment that consistently delivers impactful and on-brand experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Lead the development and execution of engaging and effective retail experiences (in-store and online) that drive traffic, conversion, brand loyalty, and contribute to overall business growth.
  • Drive the development and execution of engaging content strategies across owned channels (website, email, video, print, in-store POS) to support marketing campaigns, product launches, and brand storytelling initiatives.
  • Lead the development of omni-channel promotional campaigns that seamlessly integrate online and offline experiences.
  • Define strategic creative direction focused on elevating the brand and driving significant impact through exceptional creative output.
  • Collaborate with channel marketing, store operations and visual merchandising teams to ensure seamless execution of retail creative strategies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by actively seeking and applying shopper insights and research to drive creative innovation and enhance the consumer experience.
  • Stay ahead of industry, technology, and emerging design trends to identify new opportunities for creative innovation and engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing creative team (designers, writers, and other creative professionals), fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Champion the brand’s visual identity and messaging across all touchpoints, ensuring consistency and brand integrity.

SCOPE AND IMPACT:

Responsible for the creative vision and execution across a scope of work that supports omni-channel initiatives and includes in-store assets, LZB.com content, product and lifestyle photography, video content, promotional and email communication for La-Z-Boy brand and internal, investor and employee creative and content to support corporate communications. Creative developed by this team is leveraged nationally and by nearly 2,900 retail locations across North America.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing with 8-10 years of experience in creative direction, with strong focus on retail (in-store and online) and content creation, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful creative strategies that drive business results.
  • 4-6 years experience managing, inspiring, and developing creative teams.
  • Deep understanding of retail dynamics and content marketing principles.
  • Exceptional creative vision, leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software.
  • Experienced and thrives in fast paced, high-output environments.
  • Solid balance of creativity, productivity and accountability.
  • Good communicator with ability to present and sell creative concepts.
  • Strong portfolio.
  • Travel Required: up to 10%.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years’ experience in design or creative fields in an e-commerce, retail and/or advertising environment.
  • Proven ability to execute and innovate within the parameters of an established brand.
  • Strong design sense and creative background in both online, retail, and print media.
  • Well versed in photography and providing art direction.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain adaptable to a fast pace and shifting priorities.
  • Very strong time management/organization skills.
  • Strong knowledge of all Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, and Microsoft applications.
