Position Summary

The Project Manager will lead and support technology projects in the IT/Media unit as well as projects with major IT components in the Division of Libraries. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the qualified candidate will lead projects to implement new systems and services to meet business needs and objectives. This person will work collaboratively with all Libraries IT units as well as with managers and staff of other Libraries units to develop business requirements, identify solutions, create and maintain project plans and schedules throughout a project lifecycle. This role will be responsible for managing 2-3 projects at a time.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Business, or related field.

Preferred Education:

Master's degree in Information Systems, Business, or related field.

Required Experience:

5 or more years of increasingly responsible project management experience or equivalent combination of education, I.T. experience, and technical experience.

Preferred Experience:

Five or more years of experience in higher education and/or in an Academic Research Library.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical staff and all levels of personnel and to build consensus and support a cooperative work environment. Ability to structure and conduct interviews to gather requirements. Strong analytical skills to analyze business requirements, define project scope and deliverables, and an ability to identify risks and develop risk mitigation strategies when required.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of Library services, library technology and operational goals of an academic library. Experience with collaboration tools (e.g. Google Drive/Docs, Slack, Zoom, etc.). Experience with project or content management tools such as Confluence/Jira, Trello, Github, Libguides, etc. Training or experience in one or more project management methodologies (e.g. Agile/Scrum).
