About the Role & Team

Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment, helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.

The Disney+ Global Subscriber Engagement and Content Programming team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the service.

What You’ll Do

Disney’s Global Content Programming team is seeking a Content Programming Manager (Live News & Sports) to support our business and editorial priorities in achieving engagement objectives across Disney+ and Hulu, specifically targeting Sports and News KPIs for both platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with a talented team of Content Programmers to develop and implement effective on-platform campaigns and promotions.

The ideal candidate will have experience with content management systems, including visualization and project management tools. Responsibilities

  • Curate and Optimize Content: Program, test, and optimize Live News and Sports content across Hulu and Disney+ to effectively meet the needs of both viewers and the business.
  • Monitor Campaign Performance: Track editorial campaigns and upsell pacing to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Collaborate with Data Teams: Work alongside insights, data, and analytics teams to design experiments, collect data, and measure outcomes.
  • Contribute to Campaign Development: Assist in the ideation, planning, tracking, and communication of title campaigns across teams and the broader organization.
  • Manage Prioritization and Targeting: Utilize audience segmentation tools to manage title prioritization and targeting strategies effectively.
  • Document Processes: Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes and identify areas for workflow efficiency improvements.
  • Troubleshoot Creative Issues: Work with partners, standards and practices, and other stakeholders to resolve creative challenges.
  • Event Coverage: Be available to cover evening and weekend programming events as needed.
  • Collaborate on Programming Strategies: Collaborate with team members on ad-hoc programming strategies and initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in news and/or sports content programming, curation, product, audience development, or streaming television.
  • Proficient in digital media publishing with hands-on experience using a consumer-facing CMS across web, app, streaming, or connected devices.
  • Proven track record of successfully growing diverse audiences across various platforms.
  • Familiar with using data analysis tools such as Tableau, Looker, Conviva, Excel, Google Sheets, and Airtable to drive informed decision-making and enhance insights.
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting to large groups.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
  • Quick learner with strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting priorities seamlessly and maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Passionate about news, sports, television, and movies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the streaming television, particularly with news or sports content.
  • Strong understanding of and experience with Airtable.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.

Additional Information

  • This role is based out of the Glendale office 4 days a week.
  • Must be available to cover evening and weekend programming events as needed to ensure smooth operations.

The hiring range for this position in California is $85,800 to $115,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
