Job Description
Summary:
The Director, UI/UX will be a key contributor to the growing Product Team, supporting a strategic roadmap to create world-class digital experiences for our resort, hotel properties, and retail businesses. The Director, UI/UX will hold our guest experience at the highest priority as they define the user experience and design that honors our brand promise. This position will have many responsibilities, including creating and maintaining Aspen One design systems and user experience frameworks, ensuring scalability, quality, and consistency across all mobile and web product experiences. This position reports to the Senior Director, Product & UX.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate vision for UI/UX designs that support business goals, user needs, and product objectives.
- Communicate design strategies, rationale, and insights to stakeholders and senior leadership, advocating for user-centric design principles, accessibility, usability, and innovative experiences.
- Create and uphold scalable and consistent design systems for all digital products, to accelerate scalability, establish digital standards, and improve speed to market.
- Establish and enforce experience frameworks and design standards that deliver harmonious experiences for cross-brand customer journeys across mobile, web, and ecommerce.
- Manage design vendors and internal designers across multiple platforms, concurrent tracks of work and development lifecycles.
- Lead usability testing and user research initiatives to inform design decisions, supporting product roadmaps across multiple platforms.
- Ensure all designs are accessible and inclusive, maintaining compliance with evolving standards.
- Collaborate with Product Team to ensure roadmap synergy across multiple platforms.
- Leverage emerging technologies to continuously improve digital experiences that meet evolving customer expectations in travel and tourism.
- Collaborate on the ownership and operation of the Aspen One digital experimentation roadmap, using insights to support design decisions and hypotheses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- 7+ years of combined experience in UI/UX Design for mobile app, web, and/or ecommerce, with at least 3 years in a Senior Designer, Principal Designer, or Director role, or equivalent experience managing multiple products in an ecosystem is required.
- 3+ years leading and managing design teams (internal or vendor or combination) required.
- Demonstrated mastery of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design is required, with a portfolio showcasing your work.
- Proficient knowledge of Jira or other project management application.
- Command of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
- Proficient experience working with matrixed teams and vendor partners.
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of mobile native and web native design, with proven track record delivering experiences that unite brand portfolios across the entire customer journey.
- Experience with modular designs systems and approaches that leverage efficient content use.
- Experience working in the travel, tourism, leisure, ski resort, luxury retail, or hospitality industries helpful.
- Organization skills and a strong capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize time effectively.
- Ability to build a team of high performing UI and UX designers.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes and tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements.
- No adverse or hazardous conditions.
- Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50).
