Position Summary

Working under the strategic direction of the creative director, responsible for the design integrity of marketing communications, creative strategies, campaigns and programs. Develops graphic design concepts, creates original designs, and ensures seamless execution of these ideas. Works closely with art director and copywriters to develop conceptual creative campaigns and projects. Assists with mentoring and training new graphic designers. Partners with project managers to understand creative assignment, timeline, and budgets. Ensures work is consistent with Dr Phillips Center design quality and brand standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

CREATES & DIRECTS COMPELLING ART/GRAPHIC DESIGN Design and produce conceptual marketing assets and original materials for print and digital projects using original artwork, photography, type, illustration, and other components as directed, that are consistent with graphic standards and the art center's brand. Production and localization of supplied/existing marketing assets for a wide range of print, digital tactics, outdoor and social. Brings fresh direction and insight while maintaining visual integrity, brand standards, and excitement of the brand. Pursues creative excellence by staying abreast of award-winning design and consumer engagement trends. Mastered composition techniques (multiple elements and interactive pieces) in producing polished final pieces. Comprehensive computer photo-retouching and image development skills. Demonstrated complete understanding of color theory and color relationships. Typographic terms that identify type forms and the specifications required to refer to typographic settings (i.e., points, leading, picas, kerning, tracking, cap-height, x-height) Print production process, knowledge of production techniques, and correct final filing procedures. Occasional capturing of photography. Edit, retouch, and color-correct photography. Utilizes digital asset management system and assists other departments in completing asset requests. Ensure technical accuracy of design files throughout workflow, insert changes, revise components of design with an eye for detail and correctness, and prepare final artwork for transmission to vendors. Suggest improvements and modifications that increase cost effectiveness, efficiency, and production quality. Utilizes project management software to maintain workload and meet assigned deadlines. Follow and support all operational policies and procedures. Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values. Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms. Other duties as assigned. TEAMWORK/COLLABORATION

Interacts with copywriters and other creative team members to develop creative concepts and executions of assigned campaigns and projects. Works closely with project managers and effectively manages partner expectations regarding design deliverables. Maintains and encourages an open line of communication with other colleagues. Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners. Knowledge and Experience

Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred in graphic arts, digital media, or a related field. Requires a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in design, working with a branding, advertising agency, or in-house environment. Strong portfolio of creative work that demonstrates expertise in layout, composition, typography and general principles of design across many types of media; inclusive of print, digital, web, and email. Proven exceptional attention to detail and visual problem-solving skills. Knowledge and understanding of adhering to and implementing brand guidelines. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Keynote. After Effects is a plus. Familiarity of using of a CMS and email marketing platform. Interested in social and cultural trends. Illustration skills are a plus Knowledge of photo retouching, manipulation and editing. Preferred knowledge of photography and video capture, editing, production, and export using industry-standard software. Basic to intermediate knowledge of legal issues related to copyright and intellectual property. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines, to work as part of a team or independently, and to solve roadblocks and address issues. Self-motivated, organized and accountable. Experience in like industry (performing arts, entertainment) Special Conditions of employment

This position requires the ability to work a variable schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs
