Job Description WGL - Communications Specialist, Content Strategy Reporting to the Senior Director of Utilities Communications, the Communications Specialist for Content Strategy will be a key player in crafting a diverse range of content that drives our internal and external communications strategies. This dynamic role involves collaborating with various Washington Gas departments to create and coordinate content that enhances the Washington Gas brand within our operating footprint and the broader natural gas industry. We are looking for a creative thinker with exceptional writing skills who can efficiently produce engaging and informative content across multiple platforms. You'll ensure our company's narrative and messaging are seamlessly integrated into all communications, both internal and external. Additionally, this role provides crucial support during emergency situations, often with short notice, making your contributions vital to our team's success.

You Will: Develop short and long-form content, including, but not limited to talking points, advertorials, video scripts, speeches, web content, social media posts, and internal employee communications. Collaborate with subject matter experts in departments throughout the company to gather information and ensure accuracy and relevance of content. Tailor content to different audiences, including customers, employees, stakeholders, and the general public. Ensure all content aligns with the company's brand, voice, messaging, and communications goals. Edit and proofread content to maintain high standards of quality and consistency. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in content creation and communications. Assist in the development and execution of communications campaigns and initiatives. Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

You Have: 2 - 4 years of experience in a communications role Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills Strong understanding of content creation for various platforms, including digital and print Experience with translating technical concepts into consumer-friendly language Strong project management skills and experience working effectively within and across different teams Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on several projects simultaneously Ability to work effectively with all levels of organization Knowledge of Power, Gas, and Utility industries would be considered an asset Familiarity with SEO best practices and social media platforms is an asset Undergraduate degree with a major in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field as an added benefit We offer a competitive salary range of $82,000 to $117,500 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
