About the Investor Network Team The Investor Network (IN) team works with more than 220 institutional investors (managing more than $46 trillion in assets) to advance sustainable investment practices, engage with corporate leaders, and advocate for key policy and regulatory solutions to accelerate the transition to a more just and equitable world. We work both domestically in the U.S. and on global collaborations including Climate Action 100+, The Investor Agenda, the Paris Aligned Investment Initiative, and the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative.
About the Role The Manager role provides strategic communications and marketing support to the Investor Network team and our global investor initiatives. In this role, the Manager liaises with the Investor Network team and the Marketing and Communications team to ensure communications coordination and integration across teams and partners to ensure consistency in messaging in thought leadership content and across all media and marketing materials.
The Manager is responsible for developing communications plans and messaging, media, and marketing materials. This includes drafting pitches, press releases, columns, blogs, newsletters, and other content for Ceres’ website and social and digital media channels. The Manager cultivates relationships with journalists and producers to secure media interviews and other engagements and place expert quotes and columns in strategic outlets. The Manager also supports a monthly Investor Network bulletin and other communications directly to Investor Network members and prospects. The Manager supports the marketing team with messaging support for network team-led events, webinars, and other convenings and marketing one-pagers that highlight the value proposition of the network.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: Create, develop, and lead the execution of communications, media, and marketing strategies for the Ceres Investor Network team. Participate in Communications Working Groups for global investor initiatives and support related communications and rapid response needs. Conduct targeted media relations and outreach to secure uptake of Ceres’ thought leadership, experts, and investor perspectives in strategic media outlets. Tailor pitches for coverage in different mediums, including opinion sections, broadcasts, podcasts, and newsletters. Prepare, train, and support Ceres issue experts for on-the-record interviews and speaking engagements; develop interview prep documents, quotes/statements, and talking points. Lead communications for research report rollouts and investor initiative announcements, coordinating internally and with external partners to ensure consistency in framing, message, and branding. Research, write, and edit pitches, press releases, columns, and other media content, developing timely and compelling angles for the media. Provide regular messaging input for Ceres’ website, social media, and e-community channels. This includes support for paid and unpaid tactics for marketing reports, case studies, and other content. Support Ceres Investor Network member communications, including managing a monthly investor bulletin and other direct communications with members and prospects. Support key events to leverage Ceres’ experts and Ceres Investor Network members, ensuring messages and activities are coordinated with Ceres events and marketing teams. Support internal communications, supporting or leading discussions with the Ceres Investor Network and Marketing and Communications teams to keep staff informed on activities and overall efforts to improve communications and writing skills. Support messaging for fundraising pitch decks and appeals, board and donor reports, newsletters, events, and other special projects. Provide direct writing and speechwriting support for the Vice President, Ceres Investor Network, and other team experts. Prepare regular updates and report-outs for weekly supervisor check-ins and team meetings or partner and communications working group calls. Other projects or tasks as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required. Minimum of five (5) years of full-time related work experience required; experience in journalism, advocacy or business writing, strategic communications, or marketing highly preferred. Knowledge of or experience working on environment, finance, energy, water, and/or sustainability or environmental justice issues, a plus. Experience with producing thought leadership and media content and messaging that resonates with various audiences including investment and business audiences and the media highly preferred. Highly developed written, verbal, and visual communication skills with keen attention to detail. Demonstrated initiative and motivation, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Sound judgment and high level of integrity and professionalism, with an ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion, diplomacy, and courtesy in all contacts. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), other database applications, teleconference and webinar systems and standard e-mail computer applications. Interest and willingness to be trained on specific Ceres’ applications necessary for success: Salesforce, Bloomberg, and others. Desire to work in a not-for-profit, advocacy-focused organization. Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity. Willingness to travel as needed. Compensation and Benefits The hiring salary is $81,100 - $96,300 with competitive benefits (Pay Grade 16).
