Technical Writer - Architecture/Construction

Must Haves: 2+ years of experience in an architectural/engineering firm with a focus on specification writing. Knowledge of building codes, architectural and structural systems, and material standards Knowledge of construction industry drawing standards and requirements Strong understanding of AIA documents and knowledge of CSI principles and construction materials Plusses: Bachelors degree in architecture or construction-related field preferred Day to Day: Prepares technical documents (specs and other contract documents) for incorporation into project manuals for a wide range of building project types. Reviews drawings and other project information to write and edit project specs. Understands project requirements to translate project needs. Performs quality control reviews. Assembles final spec documents, issues documents as needed and develops bids. Coordinates spec schedules and deadlines with staff, external consultants, and clients Accountable for delivery of specs on budget and on schedule Curates and maintains sample and reference library and maintains relationships with vendors.
