Job Purpose

About the Role

BBC Studios is seeking a strategic and results-driven Audio Ad Sales Director to lead podcast advertising revenue growth in the U.S. This senior role will shape our commercial strategy, deliver ambitious direct sales results including high-value sponsorships, secure brand-funded content deals, and strengthen our presence in the North American market.

Who You Are

You are a senior-level audio sales expert with deep experience in podcast advertising and branded content. A self-starter with strong relationships across media agencies and advertisers, you excel at driving revenue, developing go-to-market strategies, and positioning premium podcast advertising solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Lead the U.S. podcast advertising strategy, securing direct ad sales and brand-funded content deals.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, positioning BBC Studios as a top-tier podcast publisher.
  • Secure high value sponsorships and advertising campaigns against top titles.
  • Drive revenue from new areas of opportunity within the industry (e.g. visualized podcasts).
  • Grow and strengthen presence in US Markets.
  • Enable the in-house sales function (both in the US and internationally) to grow podcast value as part of multimedia media 360 campaigns across wider BBC sales real estate.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, revenue forecasting, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize ad products, pricing, and campaign performance.
  • Ensure compliance with BBC Studios Advertising Guidelines and industry regulations.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, championing podcast advertising internally and externally.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

  • 7+ years in experience in ad sales with 4+ years working within audio/podcast sales with a track record of delivering significant revenue.
  • Strong industry relationships with U.S. media agencies and direct advertisers.
  • Expertise in podcast ad tech, audience insights, and market trends.
  • Ability to collaborate with creative community to deliver suitable and impactful content solutions for advertisers.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to drive strategy, collaborate across teams, and adapt in a fast-moving industry.
  • Understanding of podcast production and delivery processes desirable (but not essential).
  • Omni channel experience, with an emphasis on providing creative solution across visualized audio and dotcom desirable (but not essential).

Compensation

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $150,000 to $180,000. This range does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position. This range is not inclusive of a competitive bonus, flexible, hybrid working schedule & benefits including but not limited to: 100% BBCS covered medical & dental insurance, vision, & 401k match.
