As a Senior Product Designer, you will help build end-to-end experiences for our users — from improvement to our project browser, our accounts admin, to upcoming editor features. You’ll collaborate closely with user research, product management and engineering to design and ship experiences that make it easy for anyone to create and edit video.
Our product is an intricate web of interconnected features, which means design at Descript is mostly aboutsystems design. What You’ll Do
- Play a key rolein a feature team, driving design decisions and collaborating with stakeholders and fellow designers to shape innovative video editing experiences.
- Bring clarity and insightto broad, ambiguous problems by integrating user, business, and technical constraints through structured thinking and concise communication.
- Contribute to and expandour design system, helping refine its definition and evolution.
- Own the design processfrom concept to execution, iterating based on feedback and user research.
- Collaborate cross-functionallywith PMs, user research, and fellow product designers—elevating your own work while supporting others as a thought partner.
- Design superb user experiences, with aninsane attention to detail—you sweat the small stuff because you know it makes all the difference.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a product designer, owning the full design process end-to-end—most ideally within complex tools built for creative professionals (e.g., video, audio, or design software).
- Experience designingweb, mobile, or desktop applications with sophisticated user workflows and systems design challenges.
- Thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments, navigating ambiguity with confidence and adaptability.
- Clear, direct communicatorwho collaborates effectively with engineers, designers, and executives.
- Highly organized and accountable, taking commitments seriously.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity, guiding the design process for a cross-functional team.
- A portfolio that showcasesstrong systems design, conceptual thinking, and areal passion for your craft.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in design.
The base salary range for this role is $175,000-$220,000. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and they may vary from the amount above.
