SWIM USA is the premiere designer and manufacturer of women's swimwear located in New York City. We are currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Designer to join our team.

Job Summary

Support design team in development of elevated yet market appropriate swim and beachwear assortment for a leading global fashion brand with a focus on YPLM support.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for YPLM design owned functions.
  2. Use Illustrator and Photoshop to create CADs with color and print dropped in.
  3. Keep working line lists updated based on meetings.
  4. Support design team in review and comment on product development needs (Lab dips, strike offs, trims, visual appearance & fit of styles).
  5. Follow a Time and Action calendar. Keep organized design notes and maintain clear communication.
  6. Execute technical sketches for embellishments and hardware.
  7. Participate in development of prints working with design and print team.
  8. Participate in fittings and offer comments and suggestions.
  9. Organize strike offs for easy reference when needed.
  10. All other duties as assigned by the Design team.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education: High School diploma or equivalent OR Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related fields.


Experience: Minimum 1-3 years as Assistant Designer.


Skills:

  • Strong sketching and illustration ability - fluent in Illustrator, experience in Photoshop.
  • Fluent in YPLM systems.
  • InDesign a plus, working knowledge of Excel and 3D design.
  • Must have clear communication, strong organizational skills, good judgment, etc.
  • Must be a team player, reliable, and possess a high quality of work.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, and walk 8 hours/day.

Note: Manager reserves the right to modify job description based on business needs.

Working Conditions: Hybrid; 3 days in office per week is required.
