These projects will vary throughout the year and can include new equipment implementation designs for various vehicles, working with public safety vendors such as Whelen and Sirennet, understanding each new model year vehicle configurations, and deciding upon the correct public safety equipment packages. This position has multiple career growth and promotional opportunities in Pierce County to build on a great career.Core Daily Responsibilities:Install, maintain, and repair emergency lighting equipment, mobile antenna systems, siren amplifier systems, radio control heads, map lights, strobe lighting equipment, radio consoles, trunk mount transceivers, undercover lighting equipment, CB radios, scanners, flashing devices and other specialized equipment.Perform preventive maintenance on safety equipment, two-way radios, and antenna systems.Operate testing and measuring equipment including voltmeters, ohmmeters, watt meters, current meters, and other light control systems.Assist with laying out and building various projects designed by a technical supervisor including cable harness and warning light control systems.Modify components and units to increase operating efficiency of the system.Maintain computerized and manual service records, logbooks, and inventory records.Operate a variety of vehicles, as required.Safely operate a variety of electronic and power equipment.Respond to emergency situations and/or during the activation of the Emergency Operations Center, which may require attendance outside of normal working hours.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:A resume and cover letter are required for this position.One year experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of public safety equipment.Additional education or related experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.
