NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Broadcast Transmission Engineer based in our Concord, North Carolina office.
The Broadcast Transmission Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of all inbound and outbound broadcast transmission feeds.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Build and monitor daily feeds, routes, and procedures in the Transmission room, including IP multicast transport and distribution.
- Build complex Encoding schemes, MUX, and manage bit rates for At-Home Productions.
- Perform preventive maintenance on existing equipment pertaining to transmissions, per manufacturers' recommendations.
- Coordinate video programming feeds to multiple clients and internal departments.
- Perform file-based technical quality control evaluations of exported media content.
- Manage workflows and procedures for transmission operations.
- Coordinate video programming feeds to multiple clients.
- Coordinate broadcast equipment resources.
- Identify and correct logistical problems, in collaboration with the Transmissions department; work with team to develop and implement processes to reduce and/or prevent future problems when possible.
- Travel: <5% including weekends.
Required skills / experience:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and a minimum of six (6) years related Broadcast Engineering experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software; able to navigate in both PC and MAC platforms.
- Understanding of video signal flow for ASI, 2110 and Baseband video.
- Administration of Video encoders and decoders; including set-up and operation.
- Expert knowledge of ASI stream analyzers and their use in troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with broadcast video/audio routing systems.
- Proficiency of video formats, aspect ratios and conversion of those formats.
- In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting ability for: 2110 streams, HDSDI, ASI, multichannel audio.
- Understanding of packetized video transport streams.
- Understanding of file-based workflows.
- Strong IT base as it relates to broadcast, NDI, Dante, and 2110 standards.
