Responsibilities*
Basic Function and Responsibility:
- Provides diagnostic evaluations and comprehensive, individualized treatment for patients with serious psychiatric illnesses in an Adult, Adolescent and Child acute care, inpatient and partial hospitalization setting.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and carry out specific assessments and treatment interventions in an individual and group setting.
- Provide education and in-service training regarding Music Therapy to patients, families, staff and others.
- Consult with other members of the multidisciplinary team to appropriately address identified patient needs during Music Therapy sessions.
- Assist in the establishment or modification of Music Therapy policies and procedures and guidelines for practice.
- Maintain equipment and supplies.
- Plan and implement additional Music Therapy Sessions, i.e., special events, patient/family workshops.
- May assist in the preparation of assigned sections of the annual budget.
- May participate in research and write/present papers.
- Applicant must have excellent skills in communication and teamwork.
Related Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
- General supervision is received from the Activity Therapy Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised:
- Functional supervision is exercised over Music Therapy Students and Volunteers.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy/Certification through the Certification Board for Music Therapists as a Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC)
- Registration, certification or licensure with the appropriate agency as identified on the Primary Source Verification Matrix.
- Minimum of two years experience working in an Adult, Adolescent and Children Inpatient Psychiatric Program.
- Experienced in facilitation of Individual and Group Psychotherapy.
- Experienced in motivational interviewing techniques.
- Experienced in facilitation of Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Interventions.
- Experienced in Crisis Prevention Interventions.
- Experienced in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Work Schedule
Candidate will be required to work days, evenings, and every Sunday.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
