POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Integration & Repair, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an opportunity for a Technical Writer II (NASA Technical Editor). The Technical Writer II performs diverse administrative tasks in support of NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) and provides administrative support in the day-to-day operations of the office. This position works under the guidance of Division office staff.

  • Provide Technical Writing support, interfacing with organizations' process owners and subject matter experts (SME) about current processes to ensure processes conform to the current Armstrong templates.
  • Research the requirements, interview SMEs, work with document authors, draft, and update documents, and attend team meetings.
  • Analyze, develop, and document Center wide policies, processes, and procedures. Facilitate analytical discussions of these processes.
  • Provide support for process flowcharting and document development, including providing guidance to the Government process managers and development of formal flowcharts using rough drafts supplied by the Government.
  • Produce original flow charts to graphically present steps in procedures, using text and verbal information and generating graphics or tables to display information that clearly convey the appropriate technical information.
  • Assist in identifying and assessing AFRC processes and documentation that are impacted by proposed and newly approved Agency Directives.
  • Assist in developing and modifying AMS documentation impacted by proposed and newly approved Agency Directives.
  • Support forms development and control.
  • Maintain and provide support of the AFRC online-document information exchange (ODIE).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field, with at least 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position.
  • Must have Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point), and SharePoint.
  • Absent a degree, at least four years’ experience as a writer or editor of technical reports, articles, manuals, or specifications that requires substantial subject-matter or technical knowledge.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of and experience with office and administrative functions, practices and procedures.
  • Must be highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent command of the English language.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interface with personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • This experience must demonstrate the ability to acquire and present technical information through independent reading, interviews with subject-matter specialists, observation of tests and experiments, interpretation of blueprints or diagrams, or other appropriate methods.
