Northbrook Public Library is seeking a Marketing Assistant
Schedule: 20 hours per week
Flexible hours Monday to Friday between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; Some evening and weekend hours possible
About the Position
We are seeking a passionate marketing professional who will play a vital role in helping to communicate our award-winning librarys mission and value to the community. The Marketing Assistant will collaborate with our Marketing and Communications Manager and Graphic Designer to create and proofread engaging and on-brand content for newsletters, brochures, flyers, signs, digital content, email, videos, and more, as well as help with outreach events in the community.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about the value of libraries, has some experience working on marketing deliverables and has done some professional writing, stays up to date on trends, enjoys collaborating with others, has strong time management skills, and can work on multiple projects with various deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of two years of social media marketing experience and knowledge, skill, and development in the following areas which are often gained through a post-secondary degree (eg. Bachelors Degree):
- Communication Skills include accurately comprehending, assessing, and conveying written and verbal information to individuals and groups in a variety of settings.
- Computer Skills include using word processing and spreadsheet applications including MS Office Suite and Google Workspace, effectively using email and Google calendar, performing internet searching, using cloud-based communication tools such as Google Chat and Zoom, and maintaining and organizing digital files.
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving includes analyzing and evaluating information in order to assess an issue, make a decision, and take action.
- Time Management includes prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing time independently.
- Research Skills include understanding the information needed, performing internet searches, evaluating the results and sources, and synthesizing the data to present findings and recommend an action.
