We are currently searching for an experienced Marketing Director - Utah - to support our Volkert Utah practice. This position will be in Cottonwood Heights, UT.
This position will focus on achieving the collective marketing targets for all services operating within Utah. Serve as a conduit of information across the firm to improve and enhance the knowledge of firmwide activities, resources, capabilities, strategies, experience, and opportunities.
This opportunity provides leadership and oversight for business, engineering design, and construction management of all activities in Utah. The Marketing Director will develop in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. This position will also be familiar with the integration of engineering, procurement, and construction activities
What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinates and collaborates on all business development activities within assigned operations and services
- Assist the team with winning new business
- Leads strategies and efforts to:
- Identify customer requirements and new opportunities that combine unique elements of Volkert’s competencies
- Identify and prioritize changing/emerging markets, major targets, and teaming opportunities
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with existing clients, prospective clients, colleagues, and government agencies, including serving as a client manager. Introduces the firm to new prospects. Markets new services to existing clients. Works with governmental agencies to develop new programs and standards for the industry; and converts qualified leads into principal/senior staff introductions. As part of the firm’s client quality service program, assists with measuring client satisfaction and providing feedback to operations and services
- Research markets, teaming partners, and competitors to assist with growth and differentiation strategies
- Develops and/or participates in market research in conjunction with operations and services
- Regularly informs operations and services of trends, new initiatives, and noteworthy events
- Leads and participates in the development of proposal and presentation strategies for any service offering of the firm
- Coaches presentation teams
- Coordinates with the marketing department for development of presentation materials
- Writes and edits major portions of proposals and other submittals
- Coordinates and leads proposal reviews
- Support teams on project pursuits, proposals, presentations, and interviews
- Networks with other professionals to maintain and build cordial, respectful relations with competing firms and teaming partners that encourage teaming relationships on appropriate projects. Enhances the firm image as the “partner of choice.”
- Creates a network of contacts through membership in appropriate national or international professional organizations and obtaining committee/board positions. Attends and represents the firm at appropriate professional, civic, client, and government events. Coordinates firm membership and individual participation in industry and professional associations, and participation in industry and professional conferences/tradeshows, within and across assigned operations and services
- Maintain network of external relationships to include professional contacts, industry associations, college professors, etc. to source available candidates
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning, economics, management, or other professional/technical discipline
- An advanced degree in management or marketing is desirable
- Professional registration or certification is highly desirable
- Familiarity with UDOT and/or municipalities is required
- A minimum of 15 years of Industry Experience
- This position requires heavy travel and overnight stays 3-5 days per week
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

- Ability to clearly present and support issue analyses, conclusions, and recommendations to C-Suite, senior management, and the firm at large

- Gathers relevant information systematically; considers a broad range of issues or factors; grasps complexities and perceives relationships among problems or issues; seeks input from others; uses accurate logic in analysis
- Conveys information clearly and effectively through formal and informal documents; reviews and edits written work constructively
- Computer Skills: Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Outlook. Proficient with basic office equipment, computer software; ability to create and utilize spreadsheets
