Job Description
This position is responsible for the final completion of projects including commissioning, configuration of Audio DSP, uploading control system code, accurately testing entire system to ensure proper functionality, field documentation, and customer/end user training. The Field Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring company/industry standards for Installation and Quality Control meet expectations. This person will also be responsible for completion of projects in a timely and efficient manner. The Field Engineer must always possess the ability to interact with Customers and End Users in a professional and courteous manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand AV wiring schematics and architectural blueprints
- Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including pulling and dressing cable, terminating connectors, and mounting displays/projectors.
- Solder, crimp, and terminate various connectors for Field and Rack wiring
- Programming and Commissioning of various Audio DSP’s including Biamp, QSC, Extron, Clear One, etc.
- Setup and configuration of hardware Codec or Cloud Based Video Conferencing systems
- Loading, testing and troubleshooting of Control System software code. (Crestron, Qsys, and Extron are commonly used systems)
- Out of State travel to various job sites required
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Must have own Hand Tools
- Ability to pass background check
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must have dependable Transportation
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video and control systems
- Ability to interpret AV line diagrams and typical architectural drawings
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skill
- Advanced Audio DSP programming and commissioning skills
- Advanced setup, configuration, and commissioning of Video Conferencing Codec and Cloud Based SoftCodec Systems
- Ability to Lead and work within a Team
- Effectively communicate with customers and co-workers in a Professional and Courteous manner
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in installation, commissioning, or programming of commercial AV systems
- One or more of the following certifications required: Crestron Certified Programmer. Qsys Level 2 + Control, or Extron Control
- Preferred manufacturer certifications: Dante Level 1, Biamp DSPs, Shure MXA certifications
- Preferred network certifications: Comp TIA A+ or Network+
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- AVIXA CTS, CTS-I Certification preferred
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet tall and be able to work in small spaces or closets. The employee is frequently required to stand, climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
