Client Overview:
Our client is a well-known public library that fosters lifelong learning and cultural enrichment. They pride themselves on creating a welcoming environment that supports intellectual growth, community engagement, and the sharing of knowledge. Currently, they are looking to add a Part-Time Librarian Assistant to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$20/hr
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the library, assist patrons with their needs, and contribute to creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all visitors.  Part-Time Librarian Assistant MUST be able to work Sundays and Mondays with occasional hours throughout the week (approximately 18 hours).
Responsibilities of the Part-Time Librarian Assistant:
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of library materials, including shelving books, checking in and out items, and cataloging new acquisitions.
  • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons, answering inquiries, and offering assistance with locating materials and using library resources.
  • Support library programs and events by preparing materials, setting up spaces, and helping with coordination.
  • Assist with the management of digital resources and technology, including helping patrons with online catalogs, databases, and e-books.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and maintaining records.
  • Collaborate with library staff to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Required Experience/Skills for the Part-Time Librarian Assistant:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic office software.
  • Familiarity with library management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for books, reading, and supporting the community.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Part-Time Librarian Assistant:
  • Previous experience working in a library or customer service setting.
  • MLS experience.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional education or coursework in library science is a plus.
