About the Role:  As a Certified Digital Court Reporter with CourtScribes, you will be responsible for capturing and preserving legal records through digital reporting. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and professionalism. Key responsibilities include:

  • Recording & Documentation: Digitally record depositions and courtroom proceedings, take real-time notes, and provide live playback when needed.
  • Equipment Setup & Monitoring: Install, configure, and test court reporting equipment, ensuring high-quality audio, video, and exhibit capture.
  • Transcript Accuracy & Post-Production: Verify spellings, maintain log notes, and assist with transcript creation, file distribution, and video synchronization.
  • Administrative & Client Support: Swear in witnesses, mark exhibits, process orders, and communicate case details with CourtScribes.
  • Scheduling & Business Development (Optional): Assist with scheduling, training new reporters, and attending networking events if desired.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position, averaging 25-35 hours per week, with both in-person and remote work opportunities. If you're passionate about digital court reporting, we’d love to hear from you!

About You:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Education & Certification: High school diploma or GED required; some college, vocational training, or relevant experience preferred. AAERT Certification or desire to obtain certification is a must! (We will help you obtain)
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of audio/video equipment (webcams, Zoom, microphones, etc.) and proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and arrive one hour before court proceedings when scheduled.
  • Professionalism & Focus: Punctual, highly professional, and attentive to detail with a strong understanding of courtroom decorum.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Able to work under pressure, troubleshoot equipment issues, and adjust to changing work demands.
  • Additional Qualifications: Notary certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days) is Required. 

Most work occurs Monday–Friday, 8 AM–6 PM, with occasional requests outside these hours.
