Children's Designer
to their team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $25/hr - $30/hr Position Overview: Our client is seeking a creative and passionate Children's Designer to design innovative, stylish, and functional apparel for kids. The ideal candidate for the Children's Designer role will have a keen understanding of children's fashion trends, fabric selection, and garment construction, ensuring designs that are both visually appealing and comfortable. Responsibilities of the Children's Designer:
Design and develop seasonal collections for children's apparel, including casual wear, activewear, outerwear, accessories, etc.
Conduct trend research and analyze market insights to create on-brand and age-appropriate designs.
Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams to ensure feasibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness of designs.
Sketch and present design concepts through hand drawings, digital renderings, and technical flat sketches.
Select fabrics, trims, and color palettes that align with brand aesthetics and functional needs.
Create detailed technical packages with specifications for manufacturing and sample development.
Required Experience/Skills for the Children's Designer:
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and sizing for children’s wear.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CLO3D (or similar).
Ability to translate trends into commercially viable products while maintaining brand identity.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Children's Designer:
Experience working with licensed characters and brands.
Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices and eco-friendly materials.
Familiarity with global safety standards for children's clothing.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field is required.
