As a growing nonprofit, the Omaha Zoo Foundation is adding a Donor Communications Coordinator to our dedicated team because we must continually deepen relationships through stellar communications and relationship building. As part of the Donor Engagement team and reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement, the Donor Communications Coordinator will work closely with internal teams to connect donor support to current projects, successes, and the overall vision and mission of the Zoo by proving support for all communication strategies of the Omaha Zoo Foundation.

You will play an integral role in the development and execution of communication projects and strategies for Omaha Zoo Foundation, helping strengthen the relationship between the organization and its supporters.

You truly enjoy storytelling and understand that it is a privilege to help connect a donor's generosity with a mission they care about. You have excellent communication and listening skills, strong ability to build rapport, and a proven record of drafting engaging communications to build relationships with a target audience.

Key Responsibilities: Donor Communications & Content Creation:

Work with Omaha Zoo Foundation leadership team to create and execute communications program strategies with clear, consistent messaging related to the mission of the Omaha Zoo Foundation and Omaha's Zoo Prepare and develop communications to donors that demonstrate gratitude and share the impact of their investment, including targeted communications through CRM, social media, printed materials and acknowledgement letters Write donor-centered acknowledgment letters that show gratitude and abide by tax regulations Work with key stakeholders on the Omaha Zoo Foundation and Omaha's Zoo & Aquarium teams, to obtain information about programs and services for custom communications Establish and maintain communications with internal departments of Omaha's Zoo to ensure requested tasks are delivered as promised, and within the agreed-upon timelines Collaborate with the Zoo's marketing department to ensure consistent messaging between the Omaha Zoo Foundation and Omaha's Zoo Develop measurements for evaluating the success of our marketing and communication activities

Donor Stewardship:

Serve as a representative of OZF by showing passion and positivity when interacting with donors or guests daily, while on the phone or on Zoo grounds Conducts self in a highly ethical and professional manner and maintains confidentiality Participate in regular brainstorming on innovative, unique and personalized stewardship communications and experiences Lead informed guided behind-the-scenes tours of Omaha's Zoo and provide donors with a wow experience Support the Director of Donor Engagement with logistical and administrative support Serve as backup on phone calls and greeting guests Evaluate website for ongoing development and site maintenance for the Omaha Zoo Foundation website Work with Data & Analytics Manager to ensure accuracy of all donor communication lists

None Qualifications:

Education :

Bachelor's degree in a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience :

Minimum 2 years' experience in communications, customer service, or related field Experience in CRMs and writing content for mass communications

Skills :

A passion for wildlife and the mission of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium Comfortable working independently as well as collaborating as part of a team A warm and energetic personality with an impressive combination of skills, education and/or experience relevant to the needs of the position Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Highly organized with great attention to detail Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, maneuver around buildings, stand, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Employee must be able to easily walk up and down stairs, bend down, reach, push and pull, lift up to 25 pounds and have a valid driver's license Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, judgment, and discretion with confidential information. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends to support OZF special events Must be able to multi-task, work in a fast-paced office and work with multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy.
