Job Summary:

In your role as a Designer at SouthWood Corporation, your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around ensuring the efficient execution of design projects. You'll interact with project managers, plant managers, and production team members, ensuring accurate production ready designs are completed timely and efficiently. You'll have an active role in design meetings and assist training new team members. Your core task will be producing high quality drawings, you will work on typical sign packages, and help maintain consistency in drawings across the department. For more complex projects, you'll work to ensure timely and accurate completion, while receiving guidance from the Design Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution:
    • You will engage with your design team, project managers, production, and installation teams to ensure designs are completed accurately and meet company standards.
  • Design Meetings:
    • Participate in design meetings to understand and align with project requirements and objectives.
    • Facilitate departmental improvement goals.
  • Drawing Quality and Consistency:
    • Ensure the timely and accurate creation of drawings while maintaining consistency across departments.
    • Ensure time is accurately tracked to jobs.
  • Drawing Production:
    • Produce high-quality designs for client review and production, guaranteeing that the final products meet the company's stringent quality standards.
  • Coordination with Fabrication/Installation:
    • Work with the fabrication and installation teams to ensure that drawings are completed accurately and without issues, helping to avoid delays and discrepancies during the production process.
  • Workload Management:
    • Be prepared to put in extra hours as necessary to meet the demands of the position, ensuring client satisfaction and successful project completion.
  • Process:
    • Adherence to all SW processes and standards.
  • Safety:
    • Enforce all safety rules and document safety incidents with the QC and Safety Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum 1 years' experience
  • Design portfolio work
  • Proficient knowledge in Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience in sign design, fabrication, or installation
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
