This position performs public relations duties related to the operations of the Webb County government. Major Duties
Maintains the county calendar and provides accurate and up-to-date information on county activities. Plans, writes, prepares, and/or reviews press releases and articles; researches, writes, edits, proofreads, and distributes content for electronic and print communication. Develops and delivers presentations. Participates in the set-up and preparation of all county-sponsored events. Prepares and maintains the County Judge's calendar. Utilizes various computer applications. Performs assignments in specialized areas of public relations, including crisis response, radio and TV relations, community relations, and intergovernmental relations. Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of public affairs programs and corporate communications. Knowledge of media relations, audiovisual communications, and issues management. Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skills in prioritizing and organizing work. Skill in writing articles, press releases, brochures, and other public relations materials. Skill in managing crisis response activities. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a course of study related to the occupational field. Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of related experience.

Complexity/Scope of Work
The work consists of varied public relations duties. Strict deadlines contribute to the complexity of the work. The purpose of this position is to provide public relations support for the operations of the Webb County government. Success in this position results in a well-informed public.
Physical Demands/Work Environment Occasionally
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business. Working in high temperatures. Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Communicating with others to exchange information. Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license. Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required. This position

by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
