Position Overview

YACM is at a pivotal moment of growth and revitalization following the challenges of COVID-19. As we rebuild and expand our programs, we seek a dynamic Executive Director to lead our next chapter. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for strategic leadership, faculty recruitment, fundraising, operational oversight, and community engagement.

 

The candidate is an accomplished musician with a strong background in arts administration, nonprofit leadership, and program development. A passion for arts education and experience in event and concert planning is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site (non-remote) position requiring a valid driver’s license for local travel.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth

  • Lead YACM’s post-COVID rebuilding and expansion, strengthening student enrollment and community engagement.

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for sustainability and artistic excellence.

  • Strengthen partnerships with schools, arts organizations, donors, and community stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to set and achieve long-term goals.

Faculty Recruitment & Program Oversight

  • Oversee a part-time arts coordinator, operations manager and 15+adjunct faculty.

  • Recruit, support, and develop a high-caliber faculty to deliver exceptional music education.

  • Ensure the artistic and pedagogical excellence of YACM’s programs.

  • Oversee curriculum development, performance programming, and student experiences.

  • Cultivate a collaborative, supportive, and inspiring faculty culture.

Fundraising & Development

  • Lead fundraising efforts, including donor relations, grants, sponsorships, and special events.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy to sustain and expand YACM’s programs.

  • Serve as the public face of YACM, fostering relationships with funders and community leaders.

Event & Concert Planning

  • Oversee planning and execution of student performances, recitals, and community concerts.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate high-quality public events that showcase YACM students and programs.

  • Develop strategic partnerships to expand event opportunities and audience reach.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and best practices.

  • Manage budgeting, financial planning, and reporting in collaboration with the Board.

  • Supervise staff and faculty, fostering a positive and mission-driven workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Music, Arts Administration, or relevant course of study.

  • Accomplished musician with a deep understanding of music education, pedagogy and performance.

  • Superior Communication and Writing Skills

  • Strong familiarity and skills with software driven data, GOOGLE Suites, as well as basic experience with formulaic use of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience in arts administration, or arts development.

  • Background in faculty recruitment, curriculum development, and program expansion.

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and financial management.

  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Passion for mentoring young artists and advocating for arts education.

  • Experience in event and concert planning required.

  • Valid driver’s license required for local travel.
