POSITION: Public Information Officer

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

UNION STATUS: Non-Union

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY:

At the direction of the Executive Director, the Public Information Officer (PIO) serves as the primary liaison between the Authority and the public, ensuring clear, accurate communication. This role is responsible for overseeing public relations, media engagement, digital content strategy, and social media management to maintain and enhance the Authority’s public image. The PIO will develop and execute strategic communication plans to inform stakeholders, promote key initiatives, and strengthen the Authority’s visibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promotes the organization’s public image through interactions with business, industry, and local leaders.
  1. Attends a variety of events, including public meetings, hearings, community events, to represent the Authority, engage with stakeholders, and ensure effective public communication.
  2. Performs research for and writes press releases, marketing copy, scripts, speeches and other materials as needed; works with audio/visual, graphics and vendors to produce materials and/or distributes press releases and other public-facing communication pieces.
  3. Oversees the content presented on the CRDA website and works with website vendor to edit and update content.
  4. Works closely with the Governor’s Authorities Unit to ensure that messaging is consistent with the Governor’s Communications Team.
  5. Prepares and maintains the Authority’s external, public-facing communication for social media and other online platforms such as LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and industry forums.
  6. Provides recommendations to senior leadership on communication strategies, public relations opportunities, and crisis response messaging.
  7. Serves as the primary media contact, responding to inquiries and coordinating interviews.
  8. Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with members of the media and with local organizations.
  9. Ensures consistency in messaging across all publications and platforms.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:· Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or digital communications.

· Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

· Experience managing social media accounts and digital marketing campaigns.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
