We are seeking a talented and passionate Industrial Design Researcher to join our research and development team. As an integral part of our design process, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth user research to inform and inspire our product development. If you have a keen eye for hard goods design, a curiosity for user behavior, and a knack for translating insights into physical, innovative, solutions we have an amazing opportunity for you.
What You'll Do:
- Lead Insight-Driven Design: Use a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to uncover meaningful insights about customer needs, behaviors, and pain points, ensuring the products we develop align with real-world consumer expectations.
- Develop Research Strategies: Create detailed research plans tailored to various product categories, including methods such as user testing, contextual inquiries, field studies, and market trend analysis to capture actionable data.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with industrial designers, engineers, and product managers, providing research-backed recommendations that influence design decisions and enhance the functionality, usability, and aesthetic appeal of our products.
- Translate Data into Design Directions: Synthesize research findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product design strategy, ensuring that user needs are met in innovative and effective ways.
- Test and Iterate: Lead usability testing sessions, gather direct feedback from end-users, and work with teams to iterate on designs based on findings, ensuring continuous improvement throughout the design lifecycle.
- Foster User-Centered Design Practices: Advocate for a user-first approach by embedding research at every stage of product development-from ideation to final prototype-ensuring that our designs resonate with our target consumers.
- Explore Emerging Trends: Stay on the pulse of design, technology, and consumer trends in the industry, helping to identify new opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design.
- Proven experience in industrial design research, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects in the consumer goods sector.
- Proficiency in qualitative research methods, such as user interviews, ethnography, and usability testing, and a deep understanding of user behavior.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present research findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative setting.
- Familiarity with design thinking, user-centered design principles, and emerging technologies.
- Confident with expressing concepts through sketching, modeling, and AI methods.
- Passion for new product development and creating products that positively impact users' lives.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
