Job Summary:
In your role as an Associate Designer at SouthWood Corporation, your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around learning and developing your design and signage knowledge. You'll interact with designers, project managers, and production team members, understanding how to produce accurate production ready drawings. You'll have an active role in design meetings and seek guidance from your team to further understand how to set projects up for success. Your core task will begin with layouts, production alignment and quality control review. Demonstrating a developed understanding of design and project success will lead to more complex and higher-value deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Safety
- Enforce all safety rules and document safety incidents with the QC and Safety Manager.
- Process
- Adherence to all SW processes and standards.
- Project Execution:
- Layout of production drawings via guidance from the design team and manager
- Quality Control of drawings
- Design Meetings:
- Participate in design meetings to learn and understand procedures and standards
- Facilitate departmental improvement goals.
- Drawing Quality and Consistency:
- Develop and understand company standards for development of design and production drawings.
- Ensure time is accurately tracked to jobs.
- Coordination with Fabrication/Installation:
- Work with designers, fabrication, and installation teams to understand requirements on drawings for successful completion of drawings.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Design portfolio work
- Knowledge of design software
- Some experience in design, art, or signage and graphics
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
