Seeking a skilled Technical Writer for one our Fortune 500 companies located in Batesville, IN!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creates, develops, writes, and edits operational and instructional documents to support the end-users of company products; ensures that documents conform to existing department style guidelines as well as quality assurance and regulatory standards
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to plan, research, develop, and prepare publication plans for each assigned project that describe the scope, content, and intended audience of required documents
  • Assists in providing accurate cost and schedule estimates and manages the development and production of documents within budget on schedule
  • Conducts interviews with technical staff and other functional groups to gather information for projects while managing the creation, review, update, and release of technical communication deliverables
  • Provides rough drafts, sketches, and other appropriate inputs required by department illustrators to create illustrations and artwork for final documents
  • Revises existing documents to support product changes
  • Learns unfamiliar technical communication tools quickly, and possesses an aptitude for documenting complex technologies
  • Works with appropriate Tech Comm team members to obtain translation and delivery schedule estimates and share them with project teams
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizes work appropriately to satisfy multiple project teams, and seeks assistance from Tech Comm colleagues as needed to resolve conflicting project demands


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication or related field of study desired
  • Prefer 2-4 years of experience in technical writing
  • Proven writing and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to adjust writing style and content according to audience needs, including clinicians/operators, technicians, and engineers
  • Proven skills with desktop publishing concepts and proficiency with commonly used publishing tools e.g., FrameMaker/Adobe Technical Communication Suite and Word
  • General knowledge of Technical Communication practices, techniques, and standards
  • Familiarity with production processes for print documents and web-based publications
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective Time Management: independently manage your time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
