The Principal Product Designer - Marketing is an integral part of the Marketing team with the mission to transform and improve Healthcare. This lead role is a pivotal hands-on design position driving the vision and strategy for a range of digital products across Hoag's platform and ecosystem. Collaborating with passionate product managers and engineers to create intuitive, the lead role will also drive user-centered designs that meet the needs of our patients, providers, and organization. As the sole designer for a product pod, the Principal Product Designer individually leads the end-to-end design process for one or more digital products, from research, strategy, concept development all the way through to implementation and launch. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business goals, objectives, and user needs, and translate them into compelling product experiences that drive measurable outcomes and contribute to the success of the product and organization. Drive the design vision, strategy, and execution across the entire lifecycle of a product pod. Create and present design presentations to the team all the way up to executive leadership. Conduct user research and usability testing with patients, physicians, and care team members on a weekly basis to inform design decisions and iterate on product designs. Conduct qualitative research and distills insights, problems, and opportunities. Advocate for a user-centered and data-informed product design approach and drive the adoption of best design practices across the team and organization. Define and maintain design systems, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across a core product pod and other products across our digital ecosystem. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience
Bachelors or Masters' Degree in Design related field. Ten plus (10+) years of design experience required. Strong portfolio showcasing design strategy, process, and outcomes across native and web apps. An experienced design leader that's passionate for hands-on work is required. Strong business acumen and has led design strategy ensuring that it aligns with the organization's vision, strategy, and goals. Extensive knowledge of user-centered design principles, interaction design, information architecture and copy/content strategy. Mastery of visual design, information hierarchy, layout, composition, art direction, color, typography and building a product's brand language. Expert knowledge in building design systems and using our design tools such as Figma, 'Protopie' and User Testing. Excellent communication and storytelling skills. Experience or a strong interest for creating impactful patient and provider products in the healthcare industry. Stays updated on the latest trends in the design, healthcare, and tech industry. Startup and Service Design experience preferred. Ability to thrive in ambiguous and uncharted territory. A self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
