YOUR ROLE & IMPACT AT ASG

As part of a purposeful team at Archipelago Strategies Group, Inc. (ASG), a full-service marketing agency that specializes in impactful social marketing, the Communications Manager plays a key role in executing complex communication projects for our clients, coordinating and executing marketing campaigns across traditional communication channels, such as radio, television, and newspapers. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience managing traditional media buys across TV, radio, print, and out-of-home, with strong relationship-building skills with local media and press and a passion for delivering high-impact campaigns.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Media Buying: Handle media buys across traditional channels—TV, radio, print, and out-of-home—ensuring that the strategy aligns with each campaign.
  • Multilingual Campaigns: Work on campaigns in multiple languages and channels, ensuring that messaging resonates across diverse communities.
  • Press and Public Relations: Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and op-eds, while also managing media events like press conferences or roundtables.
  • Community Engagement: Support community outreach efforts through interviews and press, fostering relationships with local media and helping amplify important messages.
  • Event Support: Attend on-site events or interviews when needed, bringing your expertise to the front lines of client engagement.
  • Media Relationships: Build and maintain strong connections with local media contacts to maximize campaign impact.
  • Collaboration: Work with different departments to make sure messaging and strategies align across all channels and meet client objectives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Performs additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to contribute effectively to the overall success of the organization

YOUR MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or a related field
  • Experience: 4+ years of professional work experience related to marketing, advertising, etc. with a bonus for familiarity in Massachusetts government, education, or healthcare. 2+ years of experience in experience in media buying, particularly traditional channels like radio, TV, print, and out-of-home communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an agency setting, with expertise in developing and executing strategies for social change.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual highly preferred, fluent in English and Spanish/Portuguese
  • Public Relations and Communications: Strong expertise in marketing, communication, and crisis communication strategies, with demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and verbal communication—including public speaking. Skilled in crafting press releases, media advisories, and op-eds, while also supporting media events and community engagement efforts
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and media platforms like Cision, with the ability to learn other database management applications or similar programs; access to the internet is required
  • Organized & Data Focused Media Buyer: Strategic skills to place media buy in proper channels and strong organizational skills to track campaigns, analyze results, and report back to clients.
  • Local Connections: Proven experience building and managing relationships with media outlets in Massachusetts.
  • Commitment to Marketing with Purpose: A strong commitment to creating marketing strategies that are purpose-driven, aligning with client values and goals while delivering measurable results.
