We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us bring our work to the next level. Your role will be to collaborate with product managers, developers, and editors to create intuitive and compelling experiences that elevate our consumer-facing product suite across web, app, and emerging technologies. We’re looking for a designer who can advocate for users while helping us meet our editorial mission and business goals. Here, you will focus on the digital products that reimagine how our world class editorial can meet users where they are.
We'll need you to be:
User-Centric: Be a fierce advocate for our external and internal users. Shape solutions that deliver on their needs backed by research, data, and a deep knowledge of our user base. Socialize learnings with the rest of the community.
User Experience: Demonstrate a strong understanding of interaction design, system-thinking, inclusive design, information architecture, multi-step, and cross-platform flows across a holistic user experience.
Product-thinking: Lead the vision for your product area alongside product, engineering, and editorial partners. Shape your team's roadmap and goals with strategic design direction. Speak confidently about how your work relates to broader company objectives and best serves our users.
Tools: Expertly employ design and prototyping tools, like Figma, to best solve and communicate user flows, interaction and motion. Have familiarity with HTML and CSS to enable close collaboration with engineering partners.
Visual Design: Demonstrate and articulate understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and brand. Leverage the existing visual frameworks creatively, and introduce new patterns that help strengthen our design system.
Feedback: Share work early and often. Encourage peers to seek out constructive feedback from their managers, stakeholders, product teams and design team. Likewise, provide regular, direct and impactful feedback with peers.
Communication: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Communicate complex ideas, goals and problems, in person and in documentation, in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project. Lead and direct group design conversations, keeping them on-track and focused on actionable next steps. Know how to shape narratives and share work across disciplines and levels in the org.
Agility: Move fluidly and collaboratively between each stage in a fast-paced, iterative, cross-team environment. Thrive in turning ambiguous concepts into actionable deliverables. Be ready to adapt, and be adept at ensuring stakeholders and team partners are all on the same page.
Leadership: Be a reliable partner and thought leader on an agile team, meeting deadlines, communicating flags, and advocating for users in all interactions. Take design ownership of large projects, helping the team to think big. Help foster a design team culture of psychological safety and an engaging work environment.
You’ll need to have:
An undergraduate or graduate degree in design or other design-related field.
5+ years of experience as a digital product designer shaping consumer-facing web or mobile products.
