We are searching for a Product Design Engineer with good creativity and excellent problem-solving skills to join our exciting team of design engineers at Fierce Firearms! 2+ years experience in mechanical/product design is preferred. Experience with composites is a plus.The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have a passion for the hunting and shooting industries. As a member of our engineering Team, a Product Design Engineer is expected to work collaboratively with peers, leadership, and key operation managers. This position will require design efforts from inception to production for both new firearm products and improvement with existing products.Responsibilities Use CAD (SolidWorks) to create and/or modify designs with lean manufacturing principles and design for ease of manufacturing and customer satisfaction in mind. Capable of learning GD&T and how to conduct tolerance analysis studies to assure parts fit and function properly. Lead and participate in design and process reviews as required. Work with production personnel to dissect and solve design issues as well as implement cost reduction ideas regarding company products. Prepare technical documents such as test procedures, technical reports, component manuals, etc. Present product proposals to marketing, sales and management as required. Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to the company. Coordinate internally with marketing, sales, purchasing, quality control, production etc. as required.Desirable skills: Firearms design experience Firearms manufacturing experience Composite design and manufacturing experience Lean manufacturing and Lean product development experience 3D modeling and drafting experience (SolidWorks preferred) Familiarity with GD&T concepts Good understanding of various manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, composite lay-up procedures, investment casting, etc.,Education/Training Requirements:Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or similar discipline.
