Objectives

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for coordinating between several departments including news, promotions, and sales to generate impact for both our community and clients. This position will work closely with the Digital Executive Producer, on-air talent, and news team members, to increase brand awareness across all platforms. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the newsroom daily on top stories to ensure timely delivery across all mediums, including on FOX21News.com.

This position is full-time, in-person, and answers to the Digital Executive Producer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative strategies to deepen engagement with current viewers while attracting new audiences across all social platforms.

  • Capture, post, write, and create original content for all of FOX21’s social media accounts including Facebook, X, and Instagram.

  • Create content to drive engagement on station social platforms and convert social media users into website and streaming app users.

  • Collaborate with sales and promotions to increase brand awareness across all platforms and help develop revenue-generating campaigns that align with brand goals.

  • Conceptualize and execute social-first content ideas that open doors for potential sponsorships and paid partnerships.

  • Work closely with the Digital Executive Producer to ensure high-performing content posted to social media is also packaged for FOX21News.com.

  • Work with on-air talent to promote newscasts and upcoming events, while also showcasing personalities on social media.

  • Train newsroom team members on the various platforms ensuring collaboration across all mediums.

  • Analyze performance metrics and refine strategies for maximum impact.

  • Capitalize on current trends in addition to staying up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices.

  • Ability to schedule several posts daily for Facebook and X using Meta Business Suite and Social News Desk, including a quick response to breaking news coverage.

  • Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments.

  • Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.

  • Find new ways to use social media and our website to engage with viewers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in journalism, multi-media arts, communications, or equivalent.

  • 2+ years experience as a social media manager or a similar role.

  • Experience working in a newsroom is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms and their respective audiences.

  • Strong understanding of social media metrics and analytics.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to juggle several projects simultaneously.

  • An eye for detail with spelling, proper grammar, copywriting, and proofreading a must.

  • Strong multi-tasking abilities.

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.

  • Work closely with Digital EP to fulfill daily assignments and upcoming projects.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary: $23.08 + commensurate with experience
